SAFETY VENTILATION

Safety ventilation is used at workplaces where the movement of air is the active element in the system. Safety ventilation may consist of fume cupboards, fume benches, extractor hoods, local extractors or other types of equipment in which forced movements of air protect personnel and products.

Fume cupboards are an important basic requirement for most laboratories and at first glance may seem relatively simple. But today’s high demands for protection of personnel and environment in combination with financial factors mean that fume cupboards in all types of working situations must provide the optimal balance between safety and economy. In addition to this, they must also be an ergonomic part of the working environment and of course must also be a practical component in laboratory work.

In order to successfully combine these various requirements, safety ventilation must be designed with the utmost care and accuracy. It is only though many full-scale trials in our own laboratories that we are able to develop the optimal solution for each context.
